How to Figure Out Your Guest List in 5 Minutes

It can be quite the challenge to organize your guest list and choose who to invite. Many people are very excited and happy for you when you get engaged and they may expect an invitation - even if it's not appropriate for you to send them one. If you're on a budget or if you just want to have a small, intimate wedding, narrowing down your guest list is an important step in the wedding planning process.

Follow these easy steps below to figure out if you should invite someone to your wedding!

  1. Have you talked to this person in the past year?

If YES, continue! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Have you ever spent time together outside of work?

If YES, continue! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Would this person invite you to their wedding?

If YES, continue! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Are they family or close family friends?

If YES, continue! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Is this someone you would normally buy dinner for?

If YES, continue! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Will they make your wedding more fun?

If YES, continue! If NO, consider not inviting them.

  1. Does this person know your fiance's name?

If YES, continue! If NO, definitely, don't add them to the guest list.

  1. Can your wedding budget afford to invite this person?

If YES, INVITE THEM! If NO, don't add them to the guest list.

If you've answered yes to all or most of these questions when thinking about someone, they probably should be invited to your wedding. But, remember that your wedding day is special and you aren't obligated to invite anyone who negatively impact your day.
