Step Three: Book Your Retreat!
-
Where are you located? We are located in historic Florala, Alabama, adjacent to the Florida state line. In fact, you can see Florida from our back porch! We offer the perfect blend of lakeside retreat and close proximity to the gorgeous white beaches on Fort Walton Beach and Destin, Florida. Downtown Florala is a short 5-minute walk from our property. Spend an day in town with lunch at The Depot or the Ranch House Kitchen. Shop antiques at Jackson's Corner (there’s also a fudge shop inside!), The Warehouse Market, 5th Ave Flea Market, and the historic Florala Pharmacy gift shop. Don’t forget to stop in at 2 Gals & a Goat, a well known artisan boutique for natural soaps and sundries. End a fun afternoon walking around our quaint downtown with dinner and margaritas at Monterrey's Mexican Cuisine. Want to enjoy some time outdoors? Walk straight down our steps and along the shores of Lake Jackson and enjoy Florala City Wetland Park.
-
What time is check-in and check-out?Check in is at 1:00 pm. If you would like to check in earlier, you can book extra time to get early access! Check out is at 10:00 am.
-
How far in advance does our group need to book their retreat? Most of our retreat groups turn into repeat guests and book year after year, so we tend to fill up very quickly! If your dates are very firm, we recommend that you book as soon as possible as we tend to book out popular months about a year out.
-
How many people can we bring on our retreat? We can now host groups up to 14. Our main Retreat Room has space for 10, and if you have more than 10, please contact us for set up information if you plan to have more than 10 at your retreat to learn about custom set ups between two adjacent rooms.
-
How do payments work?We require a $100 deposit and a signed contract to hold dates. The remaining balance of your retreat is due 50% at 120 days (4 months) prior to your retreat and 50% due at 60 days (2 months) prior to your retreat. All payments are non-refundable within 120 days of your retreat as it is unlikely that we would be able to rebook your dates on such short notice.
-
What is the cancellation policy? Our cancellation policy is similar to that of a cruise. We offer a refund until 120 days prior to your retreat. Within 120 days, all fees paid are nonrefundable and non-transferable. because we are not likely to be able to rebook the dates on such short notice.
-
Are there any special policies for medical emergencies, deaths, hurricanes, or Covid-19?We only offer refunds in the event that we, as the venue, are not able to fulfill your contract and deliver the services we promised to you. In the case of an act-of-God types of events such as hurricanes, we will provide you with a credit for the amount paid should your retreat be cancelled and assist you in re-booking. Covid-19 is a known event and accommodations are not given unless we have are under a government-mandated order that prevents us from fulfilling the service you contracted us to provide. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide refunds, credits, or any kind of compensation for medical emergencies, last minute cancellations, family deaths, or similar circumstances. While we want to provide the best client experience possible, we are not able to rebook the individual spaces in your retreat to someone else in the event that some of your guests have to cancel for personal emergencies, so we are not able to provide refunds for this.
-
How can our group have the best retreat possible? We have hosted thousands of wonderful retreat guests since 2019 who have loved every minute on retreat and have come back year after year...and we've discovered the secret to having the absolute greatest time on a retreat. Want to know what it is?? Gratitude and a positive attitude. Having a wonderful retreat is pretty simple - show up with a grateful heart, ready to make some special memories with old friends or new ones, and have a good attitude about any unexpected bumps along the way. Communicate with us if you have questions while you're staying at the Lake House that way, if you have any needs, we have have an opportunity to resolve them for you. Find the silver lining in every situation and enjoy the precious time on retreat that you can't recreate anywhere else. If this speaks to you, we'd love to host on you retreat, so grab your friends and let's chat about available dates and creating an experience you'll love!
-
What amenities do you offer for scrapbooking or other craft types besides quilting? We don't just host quilters! We also host scrapbookers, artists, knitters, writers, women's church groups, women's college retreats, and even mahjong and card-playing groups! We provide you with the Retreat Room set up customized for your needs when you arrive. We have lights at every table, and upon request, we can include extra tables for crafting supplies and projects. Looking for ideas? Reach out & we'd be happy to share some of our favorite creative ideas from past retreaters.
-
